Where there are TWO registered owners listed on the title, you must check to see if there is an“OR” or nothing listed between the registered owners’ names. MAKE SURE TO PRINT YOUR NAME (OR NAMES) EXACTLY as appears on the front of the title below “OWNER(S) NAME(S) AND ADDRESS”. The seller(s) signs and prints name(s) on the two lines that are side by side (A second set of lines are provided if more than one seller). If the odometer does not reflect the actual miles on the car, check the box that says “ I certify that the odometer reading is not the actual mileage WARNING – ODOMETER DISCREPANCY”.ħ. This is an advantage for those of us with older vehicles built in 1997 or earlier. Some states do not issue titles for older vehicles and transfer ownership with registration and/or bill of sale. Below, I will detail how one can easily get paperwork in their name for their car. Some DMVs provide a great deal of resistance to this.
